Yin Yoga is a style of yoga that specifically targets the joints and fascia of the body. We will look at connective tissue, ligaments, and cartilage. Gently stressing the tissues in this passive way contributes to their health by stimulating and activating the cells through rehydration. From an energetic perspective, the sequences of poses support and enhance emotional balance. The postures are held for 3-5 minutes and because of its inherent stillness, the mind and breath are encouraged to slow down, providing opportunities for reflection, relaxation and turning inward.

This 30-hour/month long training is wonderful for:

  • Students and yoga teachers who want to learn about this powerful practice

  • Students who are interested in deepening their knowledge of yin yoga, and how to use modifications and props to enhance their personal practice

  • New and seasoned teachers alike who are looking to expand their skills and feel more confident teaching Yin.

Participants will learn:

  • What is Yin Yoga?

  • Anatomy of Yin yoga

  • The differences between Yin and Restorative Yoga

  • Physical, mental and emotional benefits of Yin Yoga

  • Yin Poses - Sequencing

  • Modifications and Contraindications

  • The importance of props (blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets and the wall) and how to safely use them'
