Alignment and Assisting Workshop Part 2 WITH JAMIE TARASUK

DATE AND TIME TBA | $55

This course is designed to empower your teaching and empower your students. Through the development of both verbal and hands-on teaching skills, this workshop will enable you to help your students experience freedom, stability and strength in their poses. We will work on advancing the use of verbal assists combined with hands-on adjustments to enhance your student’s asana practice. Hands-on assists are designed to enhance the posture for the practitioner, never to force the student into a posture. We will therefore cover modifications for hands-on adjustments according to different levels of experience and body types, including the use of props (such as blocks, bolsters and straps) to bring your students more effectively and safely into their posture. The workshop will also cover anatomy and joint action to deepen your knowledge of alignment and to guide you to assist with safety and integrity, and to “touch with confidence.” We will cover common postural habits and misalignments in yoga poses, why students may be experiencing these, and how to safely and effectively guide them into postures that will help keep their practice safe and long-term. Finally, we will review pranayama and the importance of breathwork while offering hands-on assists.

Jamie has been a practitioner of yoga for 25 years and a teacher for 10 years. She believes in the power of touch, hands-on adjustments and verbal cues to enhance the practice of yoga. Come with an open mind and an open heart.
